I was heavily involved in SHRM until 2020

I was a blogger, speaker, special expertise panel member, certification instructor and overall advocate.

I am no longer any of those things, and have not been for years, though because of my past association, people often assume I’m still involved in some way.

I’m not.

It was a conscious choice for me to move away and align myself with organizations like HackingHR doing great work to advance our beloved profession.

If you saw SHRM’s post today announcing a shift away from prioritizing equity, I encourage you to read the comments on that post. And to read the posts below from my friends Morgan Williams and 🏡 Kim Rohrer. They put into words the disappointment (definitely not strong enough of a word) so many, including me, feel in the largest HR organization in the world. And this is the latest – and one of the most harmful-of many.

And if you didn’t see the post and have no idea what I’m writing about? Read it. Research. Learn and unlearn.

Let me know your thoughts.

Looking for a human-first HR/People organization after SHRM’s announcement yesterday? Or maybe you’ve been looking for awhile?

Here are some I love and that I belong to, with links down below. And curious why I’m posting about this? I’ve also linked my post from yesterday.

Curiosity about the intersection of people and technology plays a huge part in Tracie's work. And yes, that includes AI! Check out more below.
