Hi, I’m Tracie.
I’ve spent my career with the people who make and move things.
I’ve spent my whole career around the people who do the physical work, the ones who keep things running and rarely get thanked for it. Somewhere along the way, making sure they’re seen became the whole point of my work.

How I got here.
I started out on the frontline at UPS, one of the biggest businesses in the world built on moving things. From there I spent 25 years leading HR inside companies that make and move things, most of it in distribution, through growth, acquisitions, and the long shift from paper-first to people-first. I learned what works in a frontline business the only way you really can: in the building, with the people doing the physical work.
Today I advise CEOs of midsized manufacturers and distributors as a fractional and advisory Chief People Officer, the leaders running companies where the frontline is 80 percent of the workforce and the HR department is one person doing the work of five. I work alongside those HR leaders, not over them. I wrote the book on it, and I’m still in the field doing the work, not narrating it from the outside.

Work. Community. Coffee.
This is my newsletter, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. The work of leading people, the community we build while we do it, and the coffee that keeps us going. I write about the real, everyday side of people strategy in frontline companies. What’s working, what isn’t, and what I’m still figuring out. Honest thinking from someone who has spent 25 years in the middle of it.
Your people strategy is your business strategy.
I’ve evolved from Paper-First to People-First. Your Company can too!
I help leaders of companies that make and move things stop losing the people who keep the work moving. Want to see how?
